The Mad River Valley
Waitsfield is in the heart of the Mad River Valley, which is a gorgeous part of Vermont. The river is always present and accessible, with scenic waterfalls and swimming holes (if you're into that sort of thing in October). The valley runs between two ridgelines of the Green Mountains. Early October is (hopefully) peak Fall Foliage time, when the hills become a patchwork of red, orange, gold and green. Waitsfield is loaded with little shops, galleries, restaurants, and a large farmers' market, and the surrounding area offers excellent hiking trails, country walks, horseback riding, covered bridges, and farmstands. We'll spend Thursday and Friday exploring the area with any of you who can make it early. Make sure you have a place to stay!
Hotels
There's no shortage of charming Inns and Hotels in the Mad River Valley. Click through for a Google map. Remember that it’s Fall Foliage, so places will fill up quickly. The folks at the Tucker Hill Inn are very nice.
AirBnB
We usually use AirBnB, and we've had good luck. Click to search the Waitsfield area. Again, don't hesitate because... Fall Foliage.
